Museum of Modern Art – a showcase of avant-garde art with free architectural forms, remarkable metal structures – AZERTAC
Baku, April 11, AZERTAC
The basis of the Museum of Modern Art – is the collection of the best works of painting and sculpture of Azerbaijani avant-garde artists from the 2nd half of the 20th century to the present day. The collection shows the aspirations, efforts and freedom of the human soul.
The museum is conceived as a unique organism combining art and sculpture, design and architecture. The author of the concept of the museum, the architecture and design, the selection of the collection and the exhibition is the artist Altay Sadikhzade. The main idea assumes the following: rooms without corners, open passages make the examination perspective and multidimensional and create the effect of a labyrinth; bending walls in different angles give the illusion of continuous movement. There are no confined spaces in the museum. A two-storey building is designed as a whole with an architectural connecting device – a “forgotten staircase” art object. Another connecting factor is color – every part of the museum is white.
The museum itself is a showcase of avant-garde art with its free architectural forms, remarkable metal structures, a well-chosen and artistically designed exhibition of paintings and sculptures.
