Warehouse-turned-distillery, modern art gallery gears up for debut
Under construction since early 2019, Chamblee’s first distillery is gearing up to open this spring, joining a flurry of construction activity in ITP’s northern city densification downtown.
The unique concept also includes an event space and an art gallery, in a former warehouse that is now described as a work of art in itself.
The Distillery of Modern Art, or DoMa, is located in a 15,000 square foot facility one block off Peachtree Road, Chamblee’s main thoroughfare, between MARTA Chamblee and Doraville stations. Founder Seth Watson has partnered with Vickers Design Group to create what is noble describe as “an experience like no other distillery in the world”.

Watson’s goal is to showcase local artists of all ages, established and unestablished, in an accessible and stylish format. On the alcohol front, DoMA initially focused on distilling gin and vodka – using a 30ft column still described as the centerpiece of the facility, in addition to other equipment – followed of a variety of American whiskeys and liquors.
Elsewhere in the building, the 2,800-square-foot Rothko Room is meant to be a multi-purpose event space, the patio seats 50 guests, and the Kandinsky Tasting Room is described as a “beautiful cocktail bar” worked by “traveling mixologists.” .
